Osteoarthritis is one of the most common joint disorders in the United States and is often caused by normal aging, wear and tear of a joint or obesity. When it comes to those who are affected by this particular condition, pain, swelling and stiffness around the joint are amongst the most standard complaints we hear. Though many studies conducted on the effectiveness of low level laser therapy have been inconclusive, we can say that the greatest number of cases seen at Cold Laser Therapy have been centered around osteoarthritis, and we have seen quite a few promising results over the years.
After monitoring the progress of our patients from May 2001 to August 2012, we’ve found that of the 561 osteoarthritis cases we’ve come across in our offices, 83% of those patients saw a reduction in pain and 81% saw in improvement in function in an average of 18 treatments.
For individuals struggling with osteoarthritis, even the simplest of acts, like sitting in a movie theater for an extended period of time, can cause pain and stiffness in the joints. What’s even worse is the fact that this condition does not target a specific area of the body; osteoarthritis can claim its territory in any joint, including the hands, wrist, neck, back, knee or hip, spreading the discomfort. Who wants to live with that?
If you’re still on the fence about giving low level laser therapy a shot for your osteoarthritis symptoms, keep in mind that results and methods of practice are going to vary, regardless of which treatment plan you decide to go with. The studies may be a little more on the inconclusive side but our results speak for themselves. Honestly, when it comes to living a pain-free life, what do you have to lose?
